Woman draws pension of her dead sister

A woman has allegedly cheated the government and bank officials by drawing family pension of her dead sister for 10 years in Nanjangud, according to Nanjangud rural police.

MYSURU: A woman has allegedly cheated the government and bank officials by drawing family pension of her dead sister for 10 years in Nanjangud, according to Nanjangud rural police.
Rajamma of Veeradevanapura in Nanjangud was getting pension of her husband who was a Central government employee after his death. But Rajamma died in 2007 and after her death, her older sister Shanthamma continued drawing pension from a nationalised bank by forging Rajamma’s signature.
According to the police, Rajamma’s children have also helped Shanthamma to draw the pension amount all these years.

According to rules, a pensioner has to sign in the life certificate every year. Shanthamma managed to forge Rajamma’s signature and cheated bank officials for a  decade.  Recently, bank officials grew suspicious about Shanthamma’s  activities and registered a complaint at Nanjangud rural police station.
