MYSURU: The Dasara procession had tableaux on Indira Canteen, Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya with lifesize photo of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The Dasara festivities celebrated on theme of Constitution, Democracy and Equality had also tableaus on social equality, social reformers and national leaders, and contributions of erstwhile Maharajas. A  replica of monolithic idol of Bhagwan Bahubali at Hassan anointed by milk, Onake Obavva smashing the heads of the soldiers of Hyder Ali by Chitradurga ZP retold the history bringing it close to people during Jamboo Savari on Saturday.

Like previous years, majority of zilla panchayats and departments had created replicas of popular shrines and tourist spots, giving due credit to historical significance and secularism. ‘The tableau of Udupi ZP that led the procession from the front had brought alive the popular Chaturmukha Basadi in Karkala taluk, that dates back to the rule of Veerapandian Devaraja built in 1432 AD. Uttara Kannada ZP had a mix of highlights with Mirzan Fort of 16th century during the reign of Rani Chenna Bhyravi Devi, that is being restored, besides promoting afforestation with its Dandeli Tiger Conservation Plan and Anashi Hornbill Bird Conservation programme.
