Classroom roof collapses, holiday saves children

KOLAR: Valmiki Jayanti holiday was a blessing for 12 children studying in Hodalavai Government Primary School as the classroom roof collapsed on Thursday.Had the incident occured on a working day, many schoolchildren could have lost their lives or injured. Entire village was shocked on Friday after seeing the damaged classrooms.

According to villagers, the Hodalavai Government Primary School has six rooms which were badly damaged. Due to heavy rain on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning, the classroom collapsed.
The villagers were angry with the elected representatives as they failed to take step to construct a new school in the village. After seeing the building, many parents are not interested to send their children to government school.“Members of Harahalli Panchayat are aware of the condition of the school but they failed to take action,” said H P Venkatesh.
