Ten arrested in businessman kidnap case

BENGALURU: Ten people were arrested in connection with the kidnap and extortion attempt case of a businessman, Ganesh. The accused kidnapped Ganesh and tried to extort `1 crore from the victim. The 49-year-old businessman from Shivamogga was kidnapped when he came to Bengaluru on October 9 and stayed at a hotel near Shivananda Circle. Babu Fais, one of the accused, allegedly called Ganesh saying he would strike a business deal with him. He was later abducted and kept hostage at a house in Rajajinagar where he was assaulted.  When Ganesh instead offered to give `67 lakh, the accused refused to budge. Police said they instead set him free on the condition that he would return with money and other documents to meet their demands.
