‘Namma Tygr may solve our problems’

BENGALURU: Kumaraswamy’s father and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda said, “I am ready to inaugurate this service which will benefit a lot of working class people. There is already an undercurrent of support which is working for our party.”

Former chief minister and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy is all set to launch his party-backed app-based cab service, Namma Tygr, in the second week of November. Express spoke to a few driver-cum-owners working for Ola and Uber who have registered with Namma Tygr.

Salim, working with another cab aggregator, said, “I am sick of working the long shift duties with no breaks and meagre payments. Even the incentives are hard to get while less said the better about any insurance cover. I am hoping the new cab service will solve our problems.”

Another cabbie Naresh said, “I have come from Mandya to earn and support my family of five back home. However, it has been very tough as I have to pay my monthly instalments for the car loan. Initially, they promised big incentives but now everything has tapered off. I hope Kumaranna who promised to help us during our strike will solve our problems with the schemes that they have announced.”

Tygr Treats

Drivers will have an insurance cover of `12 lakh (life, accident and medical insurance) while free books will be given to driver’s children every year.
Free car wash twice a month, free oil service on every 10,000 km, annual vehicle insurance and vehicle road tax will be provided. However, 12% commission will be charged by company.
For customers, there will be no hidden charges or price surge. It will be flat rate `12.50 for hatchback while for sedan
it will be
`14.50 per km.
