MYSURU: After weeks of speculation, disgruntled BJP leader and former minister C H Vijayshankar has finally resigned from the saffron party.

Vijayshankar, a Kuruba leader, had maintained a low profile and kept away from party activities for some time for being cornered in the party. He faxed his resignation letter to BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.

Vijayshankar, a close confident of Yeddyurappa, was denied Lok Sabha ticket from Mysuru and was forced to contest against former PM H D Deve Gowda. Yeddyurappa had also made him president of BJP Raitha Morcha.

He had also expressed his desire to contest assembly election from Periyapatna constituency on BJP ticket. Meanwhile, Vijayshankar was upset as the party leaders were encouraging a realtorin Periyapatna. Despite party general Secretary Shobha Karandlaje had announced that Vijayshankar will be the candidate from Periyapatna and tried to call on him at his residence, Vijayshankar remained incommunicado and stayed away from Raitha Morcha convention in the city.

Vijayshankar had held talks with CM Siddaramaiah and decided to cross over to Congress on assurance that he will be given Mysuru Lok Sabha ticket in 2019.
