BENGALURU: Only one higher education institute from the state has got a place in the SWACHHTA ranking released by the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development in New Delhi on Thursday. KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Belagavi has made it to the list of 25 universities, colleges, technical institutions and government institutions. Twelve of the 25 ranks were bagged by institutions from Tamil Nadu.
“The parameters for the rankings were cleanliness and hygiene, student/toilet ratio, kitchen hygiene, availability of running water, modernity of toilet and kitchen equipment, campus green cover, garbage disposal in hostels and academic buildings, disposal techniques, water supply systems and also for adopting any neighbouring locality or village to spread awareness and cleanliness,” a release said. As many as 3,500 institutions applied for the honour.
