Congress candidates move HC alleging EVM tampering

BENGALURU: A few defeated candidates in the recently held state assembly polls have filed separate election petitions (EP) before the Karnataka High Court, alleging voter fraud due to EVM manipulations. Majority of the candidates are from Congress and they have challenged the election of their opponents who were mainly from BJP.

Abdul Majeed of SDPI in N R Constituency in Mysuru has challenged the election of Congress MLA Tanveer Sait. Similarly, Congress candidates Vasu and MK Somashekar from Mysuru have challenged the election of their opponents L Nagendra and S A Ramadas, respectively, of BJP. Congress candidate Mohiuddin Bava of Mangaluru filed the petition challenging the election of Dr Bharath Shetty Y whereas another Congress candidate J R Lobo challenged the election of D Vedavyasa Kamath from BJP. 

Apart from this, the following candidates have also filed petitions. They are B Suresh Gowda of Tumakuru against C D Gowrishankaraswamy, D A Gopala of K R Puram in Bengaluru against B A Basavaraj, Mahesh Nalwad of Dharwad against Jagadeesh Shettar, A V Naresh of Sakleshpur taluk in Hassan district against H K Kumaraswamy and HP Rajesh of Jagalur taluk in Davanagere district against S V Ramachandra. These petitions are yet to come up for hearing.
