Four persons of the same family sustains grievous burn injuries as their house caught under fire in Kalaburagi on Wednesday.

KALABURAGI: Four persons of the same family sustained grievous injuries when their house situated at Iqbal colony of Kalaburagi city caught under suspicious fire on the wee hours of Wednesday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (A division) Lokesh said that Akbar (37), his wife Shannu (35), and their children Mohammad Yasin and Saniya have suffered grievous burn injuries and were admitted to Basaveshwara Hospital here.

Lokesh said that when they were brought to Basaveshwara Hospital they were in talking condition and their statements have been recorded but now they were under 'coma'. All the injured have sustained more than 80 percent burn injuries, ASP said.

Shabana Begum who is the neighbor, came to the gallery of her house as electricity went off at about 4.00 A. M. on Wednesday. She saw fire and smoke in the house of Akbar and heard the shouting for rescuing from the inmates of the house of Akbar.

Shabana has said that police that she managed to gather the neighbors and managed to bring-out all the 4 inmates of the house besides informing police and fire fighting force. Fire tenders were pushed in to service and fire was brought under control within 2 hours.

ASP Lokesh earlier it was presumed that the reason for fire was due to cylinder blast.

But the cylinder was found in-tact. All the 4 injured have given different statements. One of the victim in the statement has said that Akbar's (Who has also sustained injuries and is under coma) sister and her husband used to quarrel with Akbar frequently and they might have put fire on them.

Another victim has given statement that they wanted to commit suicide due to family dispute and attempted to do so.

Another victim has stated that it was accidental fire.Lokesh said that at the time of incident, door of the house was locked from inside and windows were also closed. When this is the case how could anybody enter the house and put fire was one of the questions before the investigators. But the sister of Akbar and her husband are absconding, he said.

However a case of attempt to murder has been registered at Raghavendra Nagar Police Station in this regard and investigation would be carried out in all angles, he said.

Kalaburagi SP Shashikumar, ASP Lokesh visited hospital and to the spot.
