BENGALURU: Taking a head start over its rivals Congress-JD (S) for 2019 Lok Sabha election preparations, BJP has started the process to appoint secretaries in-charge of all 28 Lok Sabha segments in the state. According to a senior BJP leader, secretaries exclusively to oversee election preparations will be appointed in all Lok Sabha segments by July 30.
“Overseeing Lok Sabha election preparations will be their only responsibility and they will start the work immediately after appointments are made,” the party leader said. These leaders will coordinate with local workers in their respective Lok Sabha segments and ensure compliance of guidelines issued by the party high command.As the Congress and the JD(S) have announced their decision to fight the elections together, the BJP hopes that anti-Congress votes will not split and it will work for its advantage, sources said.
Modi rally deferred
PM Modi’s rally in Belagavi district has been deferred due to forecast of heavy rains in the region during the last week of the month. As part of the party’s Lok Sabha election preparations, the PM was scheduled to address a rally in Chikkodi in Belagavi district on July 29. Senior BJP leader and MLC Ravi Kumar said the rally has been deferred and new date will be finalised soon.
Padayatra for complete loan waiver
BJP is starting three-day ‘padayatra’ from Ramanagar to Bengaluru from Thursday onwards, demanding com plete waiver of farm loans. According to party leaders, around 3,000 farmers are expected to take part in the padayatra. BJP general secretary Ravi Kumar, former minister C P Yogeshwar, MLC Tejaswini Gowda and many other senior leaders are taking part in the padayatra on Thursday.
