BENGALURU: JD(S) ministers who have not bothered to visit the party office and interact with party workers will have to change their ways. The party leadership has now made it compulsory for JD(S) ministers to mark their presence at the office at least once a month and make themselves accessible to the workers. The directive will also apply to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

The JD(S) directive will come into effect from Wednesday with the visit of Animal Husbandry Minister Venkat Rao Nadagouda to the office.

The party will issue the chart of scheduled dates of each minister for every month. The ministers are expected to visit the JD(S) head office JP Bhavan. The CM has been scheduled to visit the office on August 10 and 24.

This system has been introduced in the light of complaints from party workers about the difficulty in meeting the ministers at their office in Vidhana Soudha or at their residences. They are expected to listen to the woes of workers and have an active role in strengthening the organisation, a JD(S) leader told TNIE.

The system was first introduced in Congress during the SM Krishna regime. The process of involving ministers more actively in party-related activities will be further strengthened after the appointment of district in-charge ministers.  The appointments are likely to be made by August 15.
