TUMAKURU: When Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was presenting his maiden budget, his cabinet colleague D K Shivakumar, Water Resources and Medical Education Minister, along with his wife Usha was performing rituals guided by Sri Karivrushaba Deshikendra Shivayogishwara Swami at Somekatte Kadasiddeshwara Mutt at Nonavinakere in Tiptur taluk on Thursday.

The rituals such as ‘homa’ and ‘havan’ have been underway since July 1 and Thursday was the concluding day wherein ‘poornaahuti’ was held and DKS was urged to take part without a miss and he did it, said Dayananda Sagar of the mutt.

The seer has predicted that DKS will become the CM in future while advising the latter to keep his cool until then.

One Nagaraja Shastri, personal astrologer of DKS, who hails from the same place, has also predicted the same.

“It’s a pre-scheduled visit as I had informed the CM that I will not be able to take part in the budget presentation,” he told reporters. The minister has been an ardent devotee of the mutt for over 15 years and had introduced former chief minister S M Krishna to the mutt when the latter was the governor of Maharashtra in 2005.

“Had I visited his mutt much earlier, my political fortunes would have changed,” Krishna had said then after praying inside the sanctum sanctorum.
