BENGALURU: Bank of Baroda (BoB), Bengaluru zone, has something to rejoice about even as it celebrates its 111th Foundation Day on Friday. The zone has performed the best in terms of business out of all the regions for 2017-18.Birendra Kumar, BoB General Manager, said, “Today I opened two more branches. One at APMC Yard Davangere, which is a digital branch, and another at Gannavaram in Andhra Pradesh. We have 561 business correspondents in the region to promote financial inclusion. We have opened a record number of gold loans and crop loans. Last year, we disbursed gold loans worth `800 crore.”
An area of concern for the bank however is the non performing assets, Kumar said but assured that the recovery team was working on reducing these burdens.The bank has focussed on several CSR activities in the onging week of foundation day celebrations. It recently organised a blood donation camp where 861 units of blood were collected. The bank is also conducting GST awareness camp at 38 branches across Bengaluru.The bank on Tuesday organised Pinkathon, a cancer awareness programme for women in the city. It also helped four villages go cashless, one of them being Vondaraguppe in Ramanagaram.
