RANCHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the Congress never cared to meet the expectations of its alliance partners and used them to fulfill its own selfish political interests.Addressing twin election rallies in Jharkhand’s Barhi and Bokaro, the PM said it was because of the Congress’s tenous ties with allies that it could provide good governance in states or at the Centre. He said the BJP’s sweep of the Karnataka bypolls is a lesson for all states that those going against people’s mandate and betraying their confidence will be punished.

Claiming that the Congress uses allies as puppets that will dance to its tune, the PM said, “This is the harsh reality of the Congress that people of Jharkhand should also be aware of. It won’t mend its ways as it also intends to push Jharkhand into instability and uncertainty.” He added that the Karnataka bypoll results should serve as a lesson for those who practise and preach the “politics of manipulation”.

“People of Jharkhand will vote for a stable government. Subversion of the people’s mandate is an insult to them and those guilty of it should be taught a lesson. The people here trust only the BJP to provide a strong and stable government,” the PM said.

He said the by-poll result in the southern state was an expression of public anger over the betrayal of their mandate. “One should understand that while the Congress is all about treachery, the BJP’s commitment is to serve people. The Congress has always seen people as vote banks and is not moved by the plight of the poor, farmers and tribals,” the PM said.

He urged the people to show the same conviction as they did during the Lok Sabha polls and vote for the BJP in the interest of a strong and stable government. Claiming India’s standing in the world community has grown during the NDA years, the PM said that a strong government enables a country to draw the attention of the world powers on issues raised by it.

Nadda hails Karnataka win
BJP working president JP Nadda on Monday hailed the party’s victory in the Karnataka by-elections, crediting the win to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Nadda said the people in Karnataka rejected “the politics of corruption” and put stamp of approval to the Yediyurappa government.
