Karnataka polls: Congress conquers Mandya fortress

MYSURU: The Congress has managed to get hold of the Mandya fortress by winning five out of seven assembly constituencies. In 2018, the JDS managed to win all seven.

Narendra Swamy, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, Ravikumar Ganiga, Chaluvarayaswamy and Udaya K M have emerged as winners from the grand-old party while H T Manju was the sole winner from the JDS.
Meanwhile, the BJP tried very hard to make a mark in the district by bringing in Prime Minister Narendra Modi twice. K C Narayan Gowda who won from KR Pet on the saffron party ticket ended up third.

In Melukote constituency which saw a tough fight between Darshan Puttannaiah of Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha C S Puttaraju, the former managed to win by around 11,000 votes. In Malavalli, P M Narendraswamy secured 1,05,413 votes while K Annadani of JDS bagged 59,652 votes.

In Maddur, Uday K M of Congress secured 87,019 votes as against his nearest rival D C Thammanna’s 24,113 while in Srirangapatna, Bandisiddegowda polled 72,819 votes and won against JDS candidate.
