PALA: The students of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, Pala, have created an innovative folding bike.
After a comfortable ride on this mobike, it can be folded and kept in a bag.
Tony Jose, Sherin Sunny, Nidhin Ephrem and Sujimon R of the Mechanical Engineering department, with the help and guidance of their project guide, P S Harikumar, made this bike as a part of their final year project.
Running on a 60cc petrol engine, it can travel at speeds of 60 km/hour, giving an average mileage of 50 km for one litre of petrol.
Weighing just 30 kg, it can carry loads up to 130 kg. The bike scaling one metre can be folded down to half its length. The engine is placed at the rear to facilitate this.
The mobike was designed and made within three months at a cost of Rs 12000 as a part of their final- year project.
