THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has asked Centre to look into the reports on foreign bank accounts, allegedly held by IPS officer Tomin J Thachankary, who is presently under suspension.
"Kerala government has brought to the notice of the Centre about the reports. Centre is the right authority to look into matters like this," Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told reporters here today.
However, he declined to comment on reports that DGP Jacob Poonoose had submitted a report confirming that Thachankary had bank accounts in a foreign country.
Thanchankary has been under suspension for the last few months for making trips abroad without obtaining permission from government.
A vigilance case was also pending against him for amassing wealth beyond his known source of income.
He is also facing an NIA probe for allegedly making inquiries about some persons wanted in connection with some cases in Kerala, during a visit to Qatar some months back.
The investigation was based on a letter sent to the Home Ministry by the Indian ambassador in Qatar.
