KOZHIKODE: A perfect setting and intelligent selection of actors for a well-scripted and directed play would be a single line appreciation for Aaj Rang Hai. Presenting communal issues blending a love story, the actors received the applauds of the spectators.

Poems of Hazrat  Amir Khusrau, a sufi poet in the 13th century, are beautifully used by the director to depict the philosophy of life.

Communal problems, those created unrest in Indian society after the partition of India and Pakistan and the love between a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy at the time of communal uncertainty also were depicted with perfection by the artists on stage.

Telling the story of a small group of people living in a small town, the play revolves around female protagonist Beni. A veteran classical music expert, Beni is also a fan of Amir Khusrau.

Quoting his poems and life to counsel her neighbours, Beni is well known and acknowledged women in the town.

The talented woman, who had large number of admirers during her greeny days, finds solace in counseling her youngsters residing in the town.

The artist who played the character of Beni excelled in her performance as an aged lady. The performance of the actor could never provoke the spectator think that the character was played by a young lady.

Apart from the perfect gazes and moves of the characters, the theatre settling also won applauds from the viewers. The balcony from where the girl gazes at her lover, grabs the attention of the spectators. Music and lighting of the play also creeps into the hearts of the viewers with its perfection.

Scripted by Poorva Naresh -Vijay Naresh, the play was directed by Gopal Tiwari and Poorva Naresh. A Kathak dancer, Poorva could also excel as a choreographer of the play.

The play by the Mumbai-based T Pot Production and AARABH was the perfect selection for the opening of the National Theatre Festival Organised by Public Relations Department.
