BJP demands CBI probe into death of Karayi Sajeevan

The BJP district committee here has said that  the death of Karayi Sajeevan, one of the accused in the K T Jayakrishnan murder case, in mysterious circumstances, should also be probed by the CBI. Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, BJP district president K Renjith said that the statement of P Jayarajan, district secretary of the CPM, that Sajeevan was made an accused in the Jayakrishnan murder case as demanded by the BJP, wasn’t true. BJP had made no one accused in the case of Jayakrishnan murder, and the culprits pointed out by the BJP hadn’t been arrested by the police, he said. The CPM had made all arrangements for the murder in the class room, he said.

The BJP leader alleged that the leadership of the CPM right from the branch-level to the state-level was aware of the conspiracy to murder Yuva Morcha leader K T Jayakrishnan. The arrests in connection with the Jayakrishnan murder were made by the police on the basis of the list prepared by the CPM, he said.

Referring to the petition filed by the mother of Karayi Sajeevan stating that the death of her son was a murder, the BJP district president alleged that Sajeevan was murdered by the CPM as he had told his mother and party colleagues that he would reveal the truth relating to the role of the CPM leadership in the conspiracy to murder Jayakrishnan.

He said that Sajeevan’s mother and sister had made it clear in their complaint filed with the District Superintendent of Police, Rahul R Nair, on Monday, that  the CPM was behind the murder of Sajeevan. The BJP district president said that the statement made by CPM district secretary, P Jayarajan, that Sajeevan’s mother and sister came up with a new allegation as they were living now in a BJP-RSS stronghold, had no basis.  They are living in a CPM-dominated area and have never been influenced by the BJP, he said. CPM worker Sajeevan, who was the seventh accused in the murder case was found dead when the trial of the murder case began in the Fast Track Court, Thalassery. All the six other CPM workers accused in the case, except one, had been sentenced to death by the court. The verdict was upheld by the Kerala High Court later, but the Supreme Court released four of the accused and commuted the death sentence of one of them to life-imprisonment.
