Two killed, 20 hurt in mishap

Two persons were killed and 20 injured in an accident at the Nilambur railway gate junction in  Malappuram district on Sunday morning.

The accident involving a car and a private mini bus occurred around 9.30am.

The deceased are Ummar, 22, of Vellayur, and Rajan, 25, of Ayilassery near Thuvvur.

According to the Nilambur police, the deceased were the passengers of the car which was coming from Pookottumpadam to Nilambur.

The mini bus ‘Sarfiya’ was plying between Nilambur and Kalikavu when the incident occurred.

The car was completely damaged in the head-on collision.

Those who were seriously injured have been admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and others have been admitted to a private hospital in Nilambur.
