Abide by law, MM Mani told

Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has  said that senior politicians like CPM leader M M Mani should not challenge the law and he should show the courage to abide by the law of the land. The minister was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed Kainady police station in Kuttanad on Monday.

“The CPM should make Mani aware about our legal system. The government will not refrain from legal action against him regarding his controversial speech. DGP Jacob Punnoose has already constituted an investigation team to probe the allegations of Congress leader K Sudhakaran’s former driver Prashanth Babu that Sudhakaran had hatched a conspiracy to kill CPM leader E P Jayarajan,” Thiruvanchoor said.

Jacob Punnoose told reporters here on Monday that the investigation led by IG (Thrissur Range) Gopinath would investigate Babu’s claims.

“We will inspect the old police files, and if Prashanth Babu’s allegations are found genuine, we will take legal action against Sudhakaran,” the DGP said.

He added that as former CPM Idukki district secretary M M Mani did not appear before the police in connection with his controversial speech, the investigation team has the freedom to take appropriate legal action against him.
