Police protection has been provided to KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala following a threat to his life from an anonymous call received by a mediaperson based in New Delhi. The protection was ordered by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy after he came to know about the threat. Chandy asked Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan to ensure adequate protection.

Chennithala was informed by Delhi-based  mediapersons that a person with stated in Malayalam with a South Canara slang  that two persons had left Mumbai to assassinate Chennithala. When the information came, Chennithala was attending a meet along with Oommen Chandy here.

On the order of DGP Jacob Punnoose, a team of cops left Kasargod to Mangalore region on Wednesday evening, in an effort to zero in on the caller from the tracked call, which had gone from a telephone number in a lodge to the Delhi scribe.
