At a time when the Anti-Piracy cell was more active in curbing the piracy racket, its head SP Rajpal Meena has been shifted to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, allegedly owing to the pressure from the piracy lobby.

He has been shifted to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Special Investigation Unit-II here.

Kannur ASP Deepak Ranjan has been posted as the head of the anti-piracy cell.

Meena, who took over as the antipiracy cell head on January 18, had initiated action against several major rackets involved in pirating new films.

Under his leadership, the cell had even busted the piracy rackets at Beemapally here, a place where many of his predecessors hesitated to venture.
