Two persons died when the car in which they were travelling collided with a bus at Kannukali Palam, Karuvatta, in the wee hours of Thursday.
The deceased are Saraswathi, 41, wife of Soman, Padiyil Puthenpurayil, Thekkemankuzhiyil, Bharanikavu, and her mother Bhargavi, 60.
Sarswathi’s daughter Manju, her husband Rajesh, son Sreekuttan and a relative, Subhashini, were admitted to Medical College Hospital, Vandanam, with minor injuries, the police said.
The victims were on their way to offer prayers at a temple in Ernakulam when the incident occurred.
The police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel, who reached the spot, rescued the injured after breaking open the door of the car, said Harippad SI Biju V Nair.
