Hunt on for cop murderer

A special police team from Kerala is on the lookout for a city-based inter- state burglar who stabbed a patrolling constable to death three weeks ago in Kollam district.

Kollam Paravur Circle Inspector Jawahar Janard, who led the team, told Express that Aadu Antony (49) killed Senior Civil Police Officer Manian Pillai during the wee hours of June 26 besides injuring Inspector K Joy (51).

“We have traced the car used by Antony, which he drove from Chennai. The car had all the tools he needed for his profession. He would strike in Kerala and dispose of the goods in Tamil Nadu and vice-versa,” he said.

The accused was involved in at least 200 cases and was living in an apartment in Madhavaram. The special team arrived in the city on Friday and with the help of the Chennai City Police released copies of several images of Antony and his accomplice Susi. A lookout notice with contact details will shortly be put up in all crowded junctions of the city.
