Petroleum dealers drop closure plan

The All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders has withdrawn its earlier decision to close down the petrol bunks on July 16 and July 17.

Petroleum traders president Alex Vallakkalil and general secretary Radhakrishnan told a press conference on Saturday here that the decision has been taken in the backdrop of the assurance given by the oil companies to the Chief Minister that new pumps will not be sanctioned in the state until the Supreme Court delivers its verdict on the case before it.

They also said that the government, after getting assurance from the companies, had requested the organisation to drop its stir plan.
