Four CPM MLAs ready to join UDF: Selvaraj

UDF MLA R Selvaraj on Sunday said that as many as four MLAs of the CPM are ready to quit the party and join the UDF.

Selvaraj, a former CPM MLA, said that the four MLAs include those who are holding key leadership positions in the CPM.

Speaking to reporters here, Selvaraj, who declined to disclose the names of the four, said that he would extend all support to them if they wanted to join the UDF. Notably, Government Chief Whip P C George also had earlier said that four LDF MLAs were ready to join the UDF.

“Three-four CPM MLAs have expressed their willingness to leave the party.

They want to join the UDF as they have concerns  over the party’s ongoing deterioration. But they should come out on their own,” he said.

However, Selvaraj added that he has not discussed the matter with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy or KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.

Terming his friendship with George ‘old and strong’, Selvaraj said that there was no specific discussion with George when he was planning to quit the CPM.

He added that he had consulted Chief Minister Oommen Chandy before joining the UDF.
