INTUC national president G Sanjeeva Reddy came down heavily against moves to rope in MNCs and private players in the energy sector of the country and asked the Planning Commission and the UPA Government to adopt a realistic view on the issue.

Addressing a news conference in the capital, Sanjeeva Reddy said that though the Electricity Act was implemented in 2003, major issues in the electricity sector remain unsolved and that the government had failed to rectify this.

INTUC state president K Chandrasekahran and INEWF general secretary M S Rawther were also present at the news conference.
