‘Fasal case accused have CPM backing’

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday submitted before the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court that the accused in the Thalassery Fasal murder case still enjoyed the moral support from the national and state level CPM leaders.

The CBI also submitted that there are more influential politicians involved in the murder case.

The CBI made these submissions in the wake of the bail plea made by the accused, V P Arundas alias Cheriya Aroottan of Thiruvangad, M K Kalesh of Ukkandanpeedika and T M Arunkumar of Kuttimakkool. Session Judge A Hariprasad adjourned the hearing of the bail application to Friday.

The CPM leaders and their supporters were the conspirators behind the murder, the CBI said.

Two more persons involved in the murder have to be identified and their connections with the conspirators have to be proved.

If the petitioners are released on bail, it would affect the further investigation.

The CBI had filed the charge sheet against the  eight accused in the case, including two CPM leaders - Karayi Chandrasekharan and Karayi Rajan.
