Vishal murder: Two PFI activists held

The Chengannur police arrested two Popular Front activists on Thursday in connection with the murder of Vishalkumar, 19, who was stabbed to death at Christian College, Chengannur, on Monday. The arrested are a third-year BA Economics student of the college, Nazim, 20, of Idamalayil House, Oothumpara, Konni, and Shafeeq, 21, of Kadakkadu House, Pandalam. Chengannur CI R Jose said that they are searching for ten more persons in connection with the murder.

Nazim and Shafeeq were produced before the Chengannur Magistrate Court and have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Sreejith, 20, a native of Pandalam, were injured in a clash between the supporters of the CFI and the ABVP, at Christian College, Chengannur, on Monday. Vishal, who was the Chengannur area karyavahak of the ABVP, died at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday.
