A former Crime Branch DySP K Samuel, who earlier probed the Sister Abhaya case, filed a petition in the CBI court here on Monday seeking further probe into the case.
Samuel said in the petition that various evidence in the case, including the dress of Abhaya, were tampered with and that some court staff and CBI investigating officers were suspected to have played a role in sabotaging the case.
The court admitted the petition and posted the case to September 3.
The hearing on the discharge petitions filed by the three accused in the case, Fr Jose Poothrukkayil, Fr Thomas M Kottoor and Sr Sephy, was also held on Monday.
The CBI opposed the discharge petition stating that there was ample evidence against the accused.
