Shukkoor murder: T V Rajesh to be quizzed on Monday

DYFI leader T V Rajesh MLA will be questioned by the police in connection with the Shukoor murder case on Monday at the Valapattanam Police Station.

The police team investigating the Shukkoor murder had  directed T V Rajesh to appear before it several times earlier, but he couldn’t follow the police directive as he was attending the Assembly session.

The police had no choice but to wait till the Assembly session was over to issue a fresh notice to him.

Police sources had disclosed earlier that Rajesh had been asked to appear before the investigating officials on July 28 but this had to be postponed to July 30 to suit the convenience of the police.

Home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan is scheduled to attend a  public function here on July 28, and the police officials thought it unwise to question an MLA connection with a murder case the same day.

According to official sources  this was the reason for postponing the day fixed for his interrogation to Monday. At the same time, the notice issued by the police seeking his presence for interrogation was delivered at his house by the police.

The MLA stated that he would present himself to be questioned by the police in connection with the Shukkoor murder case as asked by the police.

According to the notice issued by the police, Rajesh has to reach the Valapattanam Police Station on Monday. The CPM leadership expressed strong resentment at the police action of directing the MLA to reach the police station for questioning.

As a representative of the people he deserves to be treated with respect by the police, said the CPM leaders.CPM district secretary P Jayarajan was questioned twice earlier at the Government Guest House here. The decision taken earlier by the police was to question Rajesh also at the Guest House.

Muslim League worker Shukkoor was stabbed to death by an alleged group of CPM workers at Keezhara a few hours after a car in which P Jayarajan and T V Rajesh were travelling at Ariyil near Pattuvam.

The two leaders were admitted to the Taliparamba Cooperative Hospital  following the attack on the car.
