The Chalakkudy police on Thursday arrested two youngsters in connection with sexually assaulting a minor girl after promising to marry her.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Binu, 26, and his friend Anil, 20, both hailing from Kuzhur near here.
“The accused took the victim, a class nine student, in an auto rickshaw from Chalakudy railway station area on Monday, to a deserted waiting shed in Kuzhur, and exploited the girl along with his friend.
She was later abandoned near Kodakara, from where she returned school only on the next day. Binu, a private bus employee, had an affair with the girl for the last six months and had promised to marry her. Investigation is on to trace other persons who might have been involved in the crime, the police said.
