Kerala hit by power outage

Kerala was also a casualty in the massive power outage that struck seven northern states early on Monday morning.

Kerala did not receive 100 Megawatts from the Jhajjar power station in Haryana during the daytime as the power station too was hit by the outage since it was connected to the northern grid.

Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal said in a statement here that 50 MW was restored by evening, but it would take another day to restore the full complement of 100 MW. The grid failure had hit Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
