Accident

An angry mob set fire to a tempo after a father and son died while his mother seriously injured in an accident that occurred near 11 am at Melmuri near here on Monday. The tempo while trying to overtake another vehicle hit the motorbike the family was riding. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the incident. The deceased are Aravankara native Paranchery Muhammed Shareef, 30, and his son Muhammed Rasin, 3. Shareef’s wife Thesni was admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

The family was coming from Malappuram side after getting medical treatment for Rasin. “The bike rider even gave way for the tempo which was overtaking another vehicle. But the tempo was not in a position to overtake the vehicle without colliding with the bike. It is rumoured that the tempo met two other accidents on its way,” Sasi, a native, said. Local people who rushed to the spot moved the three persons to the hospital.
