Twenty-nine new village offices to be opened this year

Twenty-nine new village offices will be opened in the state this year.  Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash told the Assembly on Wednesday during the discussion on demand for grants of his ministry that the new village offices were to be set up as part of a decision to open village offices in all those panchayats which had no village offices.

The new village offices are Anchuthengu, Poovar and Balaramapuram in  Thiruvananthapuram district, Perayam in Kollam district, Thumpaman and  Seethathodu in Pathanamthitta district, Poonjar Thekkekkara,  Kadaplamattom, Koruthodu, Udayanapuram and TV Puram in Kottayam district, Munnar, Idamalakkudi, Kanchiyar, Irattayar in Idukki district,  Pallarimangalam and Choornikkara in Ernakulam district, Athirappilly and Nenmenikkara in Thrissur district, Pookottukavu (Palakkad), Edarikodu, Muthedam and Pothukal (Malappuram), Udayagiri, Peringalam and Chokli (Kannur) and Valiyaparambu in Kasargod district.

 He informed the House that the commission constituted to look into the delimitation of taluks had to expedite its work to initiate any action in this regard.

The government should make an earnest effort to solve the problems of the people as there are taluks such as Taliparamba which is spread over 1,300 sq. kilometres when the entire Alappuzha district has an area of 1,256 sq. kms, Sunny Joseph of Peravoor said.

Golf Club to Stay

Adoor Prakash said that the government had no intention to close down the Golf Club here.  When C Divakaran of the CPI asked if the government is planning to hand over the Club to private parties, theMinister remained non-committal in his answer.
