Gas tanker blast: 3 more die

Three more persons, Krishnan of Devi Nivas, Chala, his wife Devi, 58, and Niha Raj, 18, of Revathy, Chala, succumbed to their injuries at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital on Friday taking the toll in the gas tanker explosion to 11.

Krishnan is the brother of Lakshmanan who died on Thursday night. Krishnan’s son, Prasad, who sustained serious burn injuries, is undergoing treatment. Niha Raj, a student of the Chinmaya Mission School, Chala, is the daughter of Rajan, Coast Guard SI at Azhikkal who too is undergoing treatment for burn injuries.

Rajan’s wife Indulekha and mother Nani are also under treatment.

The condition of nearly 12 persons, who have been admitted to various hospitals with serious burn injuries, is still serious.
