Joyichan, a journalist par excellence

A journalist who never hesitated to walk that extra mile to get you the right story, that is how K J Francis Joy is remembered by his colleagues here at ‘Express.’ The name ‘Joyichan’, as he was popularly known in his friends circle, was synonymous with Aluva for many.

“He was a reporter who would ensure that every angle of the story is covered. He never presumed anything and his stories were never coloured. An aspect that made him distinct among regional correspondents was that he was someone who always looked at the larger canvas of issues.

“He would often weave in the larger developments with his immediate story to provide the right perspective,” said M K Das, former Resident Editor of the New Indian Express. He had widely covered the Periyar pollution issue and the inception and growth  of the Kochi international airport at Nedumbassery.
