Ahluwalia’s comment sparks controversy

The Bharatheeya Sevashram has called for the removal of the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia from his post, irked by his statements calling for the reclamation of paddy fields in Kerala citing the scarcity of land.

The anti-farmer outlook and policies of the Centre have come to the fore through these comments, the organisation criticised. Even Mahatma Gandhi had envisaged the protection of agrarian labour and advocated grama swaraj, with a view to making the rural folk self-sufficient.

President of the Sevashram Peralikalam Krishnadas said that the Government was playing ball to the move of  the land mafia who were trying to corner Government land in the name of setting up hospitals, schools and resorts. He also criticised the recent hike in diesel prices.
