Attack on scribe: Case registered

The Vanchiyoor police have registered a case against former Director-General of Prosecutions (DGP) P G Thampi and a cop attached to the Kollam Crime Branch for alleged attack on a scribe working with a vernacular daily.

The DGP was booked after Arun T Vijayan, a sub-editor with a daily, complained that he was attacked by the DGP.  According to the complaint, the ex-DGP accompanied by a CI and Sooryakumar, who is a neighbour of the journalist, barged into his house and attacked him.

It was reportedly said that Arun had informed the owner of the apartment that some immoral activities were going on there.

The police also conducted a surprise check the other day and this infuriated the trio.
