Ramesh writes to PM

The continuous neglect of the state’s passengers by Air India by cancelling international flights at will, was brought to the attention of Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh by KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday, through a detailed letter.

The national airline’s indifferent attitude towards the demands and needs of the state is well-known, through not only cancellation of flights but jacking up of  fares to various destinations.

AI had cancelled 168 flights in recent days without giving enough prior information leaving passengers from the state in dire straits.

‘’That such an approach is not followed by AI in other states is to be noted.

“Many of the expatriate workers in the state  even face the prospect of losing their jobs since they cannot fly back to their work destinations in time, owing to recurring flight cancellations,’’ Chennithala said.

The situation in the state is that other airlines are not only cashing in on the situation but are hiking the fares to xorbitant levels, he said.
