CBI probe into TP murder after verifying legal aspects: Minister

The state Cabinet will take a decision on initiating a CBI probe into the larger conspiracy behind the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan after verifying all legal aspects, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said.

Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting with K K Rema, wife of slain leader at their residence at Onchiyam on Monday, Thiruvanchoor said that the government will verify all legal aspects regarding the issue.

The government has already appointed two special prosecutors  - C K Sreedharan and P Kumarankutty and will conceive their views.

“Not only with the Advocate General, we will consult other legal experts and consider their advice before taking a decision upon the CBI probe,” the minister said.

Thiruvanchoor arrived at the residence around 10am and held discussion with Rema, her father K K Madhavan, son Abhinand and RMP leader N Venu in a closed room for more than half an hour.

Terming his visit an usual one, Thiruvanchoor added that the government is considering the demands raised by Chandrasekharan’s widow and family seriously.

“As of now, the probe conducted by SIT headed by ADGP Vinson M Paul is an achievement for Kerala Police. The SIT will continue further investigation as yet it has not been disbanded. The government has already made clear its stance on the issue,” said Thiruvanchoor.

In reply to a question, the minister said that the government would consider the legal side in the matter of further investigation into the murder of BMS leader Payyoli Manoj.

The petition submitted by his relatives to me on Monday, alleging that innocent people were made accused in the case owing to the dissidence in the CPM, was serious.

As the trail in the case has been posted, the government will look upon the legal aspects on further steps, he added.

Meanwhile, K K Rema has made it clear that she stands firm on her stand in the demand for a CBI probe into Chandrasekharan’s murder to bring to justice the higher-ups involved in the murder conspiracy.

She added that they doesn’t want any steps which would weaken the present investigation. RMP leader N Venu who is also present on the occasion also echoed the same view.
