A 38-year-old man allegedly killed his two daughters by throwing them into a temple pond after an altercation with his wife at Anthikkad here on Thursday. According to the Anthikkad police, the deceased are six-year-old Adityaveni and three-year-old Krishnaveni.
According to the police, the accused Mangattukara Veettil Surendran killed his daughters after a quarrel with his wife Ambily around 11.30 am on Thursday. Soon after the crime, he immediately rang up one of his friends and confessed to the crime, the police said. The bodies of the kids were later fished out by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel after a search in the pond. The police took Surendran into custody.
Surendran had a long quarrel with his wife who is undergoing treatment at a mental hospital. In addition, the accused had several family problems to confront with and he was upset over the future of the kids, the police said. The police have begun an investigation into the incident.
