Bus conductor knocked down by bus, dies

 A forty eight-year-old conductor of a private bus was run over by another private bus at Chingavanam near here. The deceased is M K Chacko, alias Mon, of Malloopparambil house, Kalayippadi near Kurichi.

The incident occurred on the Kottayam-Njaliakuzhy Road near Chingavanam Junction around 7 pm on Friday.

According to the police, Chacko, a bus conductor of a private bus, Ebyson that operates on the Kottayam-Njaliakuzhy Road, was knocked down by another private bus, Kondody, while he was returning home after his duty. Chacko fell into the drainage canal and hit his head.

Although he was rushed to the district hospital, his life could not be saved. According to eye witnesses, the bus had collided with a car, lost control and hit Chacko.

Alleging that the police did not reach the accident place on time, agitated locals gheraoed Chingavanam Sub Inspector Suresh Kumar, which created mild trouble in the area.

Chacko’s body is being kept at the district hospital morgue. Chacko is survived by wife Kunjumol and two daughters.
