Mundur rebels to toe party line

The CPM rebels have decided to support and participate in the rally to be organised by the Mundur area committee on October 5. CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan will participate in the rally.

This follows an assurance by CPM state secretariat member A K Balan to Gokuldas that the enquiry report by Elamaram Kareem would be submitted at the earliest and no vindictive proceedings would be initiated against those who shouted slogans against CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and blocked his car. Five rebel members participated in the meeting of the 14-member area committee.

The other three rebel members, Zulfiqar Ali has been admitted to hospital, Ramanujam had gone to Chalakudy in connection with the official duties and Swaminathan was also out of station as he had to attend a director board meeting.

Ninth rebel member, P A Gokuldas, who was demoted to the Kongad local committee, naturally did not attend the meeting.

The official group of the CPM is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of the rally.
