Malabar Chamber secretary murdered in Kozhikode

In a shocking incident, a top businessman and the newly-elected secretary of Malabar Chamber of Commerce, P P Nazeer Ahammed, 50, was found murdered at Chevarambalam here  early on Saturday.

The  body was spotted by some morning walkers at Pachakkal junction along the Malaparamba bypass- Chevarambalam stretch  around 6.30 am. As per preliminary autopsy report, Nazeer was strangled on Friday night between 11.35 pm and 12.30 am. He was elected as the MCC secretary only a few hours earlier.

Nazeer Ahammed  was a native of Kallai. He was running a shop, ‘Electro Agencies,’ at West Kallai and was recently engaged in real estate business in Wayanad.

Chevayur police registered a case and started investigations. Kozhikode City Police Commissioner G Sparjan Kumar said, “The murder would have taken place inside a vehicle and we are looking into all aspects. However, the motive of the crime is yet to be known.’’

There were  injuries on the head and face, especially beneath both the eyes, police said. Officials also found certain marks on the ground indicating that the body was  dragged to the spot.
