It seems the district police are now embracing the visual medium for enhancing public awareness about policing, after road shows and awareness campaigns on road safety rules. In a unique initiative, top police officials of the district police administration led by the Inspector General of Thrissur Range have shot a couple of movies in order to develop a new culture of social discipline through movies. The movies, in which top officials of the district police play the key roles, will soon be uploaded in the YouTube, besides airing on the TV channels. According to Joby Chuvannmannu, who directed both the movies, the first multi-lingual movie, scripted by Ajitha Beegam, Superintendent of the Thrissur Rural police, tries to highlight the need for every denizen to become sociallyresponsible. The movies are titled ‘Nanma’ (virtue) and ‘Kanneer Kiranangal’, shot in English, Malayalam and Tamil.
