Name of actress Uttara Unni crops up in solar scam

As the solar panel scam continues to remain the centrestage in Kerala politics, the name of another actress Uttara Unni has cropped up in connection with the case.

The upcoming actress and model, who has acted in director Lenin Rajendran's yet to be released 'Edavapathy', had allegedly flown to Chennai and Delhi along with the prime accused Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan in October last year.

Police said details in this regard has been handed over to the special investigating team probing the case.

The model, in her Facebook page has described herself as the Brand ambassador of 'Team solar', the fraudulent firm floated by the accused.

Daughter of actress Urmilla Unni, Uttara told television channels that she had attended three functions of the compnay, including a Police Academy event at Thiruvananthapuram and a school function at Kochi. She stated that the firm had invited her to the function.

Television actress and dancer Shalu Menon was also linked to the firm and was arrested from her house at Chenganassery in Kottayam on July 5 on a complaint from a Thiruvananthapuram-based entrepreneur that he had been cheated of a huge amount by Shalu and Biju promising him to clinch a business deal using their high connections.

The scam, pertaining to fraudulent deals running into crores of rupees pushed by Saritha Nair and accomplice Biju, has brought the office of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy under a cloud with the arrest of one of his close personal aides and removal of two others from the CMO.
