Seeking the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over Solar scam and gold smuggling issue, LDF will take out two jathas from November 1.
While one jatha will start from Kasargod on November 1 and culminate in Thrissur on November 12, the other jatha will begin from Ernakulam and end in Thiruvananthapuram during the same period.
Briefing mediapersons about the LDF state committee meeting decisions here on Tuesday, LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan said that after the culmination of the jathas, the LDF would lay siege to the Chief Minister’s official residence, Cliff House. However, he did not reveal on which day the Cliff House blockade would be held. Viswan said one party leader from each constituent party would participate in the jatha. Though he did not mention the names of the jatha captains, it is learned that politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will lead the jatha from Kasargod. A CPI leader will be the captain of the second jatha to be taken out from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram. He said the LDF will meet again on October 21 to finalise the stir programmes and the date of the Cliff House siege. He said that the High Court’s remarks against the State Government in a case involving Salim Raj gave a true picture of the pathetic state of governance in the state.
‘’Whether it is the Solar case, or the gold smuggling case, the Chief Minister and his office are under the cloud of suspicion. It has been clear that the Chief Minister’s Office has become a safe haven for anti-socials and criminals. He has no right to continue in power for even a minute,’’ Viswan said.
