Kannur to become first zero-landless district

Kannur would soon achieve the status of the first zero-landless district in the country, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash has said. He was delivering the keynote address at the T H Balan Mokery Award distribution ceremony held here on Sunday. 11,103 applications have been received from landless people in Kannur district and efforts are on to issue title deeds to all of them, the minister said. He added that the district administration had been engaged in efforts to find land for all applicants in the district itself. “It has been found that about 2,43,928 landless people are in the state at present,” Adoor Prakssh said.
